Eating and exploring our way through the world

Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana

Since we had the luxury of a rental car, we were able to get out and see some of Las Vegas and its surrounding areas.  While we didn’t go anywhere as exciting as Death Valley, Valley of Fire, or the Hoover Dam, we did get down to Henderson, just south of the city.  Henderson has a quaint little shopping area called The District, not unlike Ayrsley in Charlotte, and the Wife and I popped by to check it out.  While we were there, we saw a cute little pizza place, so we thought, “It’s around dinner time, let’s try it!”   We were not disappointed.

IMG_1867 We really weren’t sure what to expect when we walked in.  It was quiet, and quasi-elegant, but it was definitely a pizza place.

The menu had all sorts of interesting dishes.  Nothing that didn’t belong on a pizza menu, necessarily.  It was just that there were 6 kinds of salads, and most of them had some unique ingredient.  The pizzas too, had normal ingredients, but in simple and fresh combinations.

We ordered a salad, the insalata carpaccio, and the namesake pizza, the Settebello, to share.

IMG_1865 Arugula and fresh grated cheese on cured mea with a light balsamic dressing.  The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were all subtle, but well-mingled.  Very nice.

The pizza was 12” with sausage, pancetta, tomatoes, and mushrooms, but with the added ingredients of fresh basil and roasted pine nuts.  It was as good as it sounds (and looks).

We know that it’s hard to get away from the tourist areas of Vegas when you visit, and there are some great places to make your way to when you’re there (did you know there’s a Hoffbrauhaus in Vegas?), but if you’re down near Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, and you’re looking for a bite, you won’t be disappointed with a nice pie from Settebello.
